Finding the balance again
Over three generations, the Flensted family and the team at Frederiksminde have spent countless hours refining the way our mobiles are packed.
Every thread, balance point and protective fold has been carefully considered, helping mobiles travel safely from Denmark to homes around the world.
Yet once a mobile becomes part of everyday life, things can happen.
Over the years, we have heard many stories from customers around the world:
A curious cat jumping into a mobile.
An overenthusiastic attempt at spring cleaning.
Even one story involving a fly swatter and a rather hilarious chase between husband and wife.
So if your mobile suddenly becomes tangled, first of all:
Take a deep breath and count to ten.
The good news is that most mobiles can be untangled again.
However, fixing it requires one thing: patience - and we know that can feel like a lot to ask of you, if you're staring at what looks like an impossible tangle of threads.
Take Your Time
Lay the mobile carefully onto a table and gently separate the threads and objects as much as possible.
If possible, release the thread from the hanging hook first. Having one free thread often makes the process much easier and gives you more flexibility while working.
Then simply focus on one small section at a time.
Slowly, the structure usually begins to reveal itself again.
If One Section Is Especially Stubborn
Sometimes one section is especially difficult.
If necessary, you can carefully cut only that single thread and restring it afterwards using the extra thread often left near the hanging point.
Surprisingly often, solving just one section makes the rest of the mobile much easier to untangle.
We're Here to Help
We know this process can feel very challenging.
Over the years, we have untangled hundreds of mobiles ourselves, and in many cases they can absolutely find their balance again.
If you have worked through the steps above and still cannot untangle your mobile, please do not hesitate to contact us.
A few photos are often enough for us to guide you in the right direction.
Finally
Sometimes, a mobile reminds us of something simple, yet important:
Not everything can be rushed.
And once it finally hangs freely again, quietly moving in the air —
it somehow feels even more alive than before.
