Designed by Hans Christian Andersen
Hans Christian Andersen’s favourite hobby was making paper-cuts of figures which were always full of fantasy and humour, and the poet was often seen, surrounded by children while cutting out the most imaginative figures from paper or pasteboard.
A funny example is this “Dancing men”, originally a double-cutting to be folded in the middle, placed on the table and blown “dancing” across it.
The original was made in 1849 for the Danish sculptor, A.J. Jerichau. It now belongs to the Andersen Museum in Odense.
