As a creator of silhouettes Hans Christian Andersen As silhouette cutter Hans Christian Andersen is the life of the party, and the celebrated guest of the gentry and the intellectuals of his days.
Hans Christian Andersen always brought his 24 cm long pair of scissors, and he amused himself and others by deftly cutting silhouettes.
This year’s paper cutting is taken from a picture book, “Astrid Stampes Billedbog” which Hans Christian Andersen jointly created with Adolph Drewsen as a present for Drewsen’s grandchild, Astrid. The original picturebook is on display in The Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense, Denmark.
